Understanding Behavior: Understand Student Behavior
Behaviors serve a purpose and problem behaviors are no different. Problem behaviors are usually a person’s attempt to communicate something. The more we understand what a student is trying to communicate, the more we can help them make a better choice. And when we identify those missing skills that they haven’t learned yet, the more effective our teaching efforts will be in shaping new positive behaviors to replace those inappropriate behaviors.
