Understanding Behavior: Escalation Cycles and Behavior Chains
A Behavior Chain analysis can be conducted informally and retrospectively as part of a team troubleshooting discussion, and these analyses can also be conducted as part of a more formal Functional Behavior Assessment or FBA process. Think about a student you are currently supporting. Map out a Behavior Chain analysis using the attached activity document below, or by opening up the student's file in Behavior Advantage and filling out the Behavior Chain map in the FBA tab or in the Response Strategies tab of a Simple BIP (additional instructions can be found at Behavior Chain).
